Resolving Opposites
by Barry Carter
Here is a quote on structure from Love Without End - Jesus Speaks:
"Structure is an organizational factor in the universe, although a secondary and derivative one. It is
love which first brings order out of chaos, but structure implements the durable patterns of orderly
arrangement. Love built your home; structure holds the walls in place. Love built your nation, structure
administers it. Love determines the parameters of right conduct, structure formulates the laws which enforce
it. Like the mind, structure is good if it serves, and tyrannical if it dominates inflexibly, never submitting
to the revisions of love.
"Structure represents the predictable, agreed upon patterns of existence which start with simple forms and
build to complex ones. It is the patterning which causes the differences of potential, and holds organizational
formulas in place. For example, structure is what makes the difference between steam, water, and ice even
though the ingredients are the same. But structure is not the 'will' which determines whether H20 will become
steam or ice. That is determined by harmonic adaptations to the environment (love).
"All structure is derivative summarization, and is subject to revision, suspension, or development. You
might say that structure is the conservational imprint which allows desirable creations to be stabilized,
retained, and combined into larger aggregates of form and matter. Structure is what holds things in
place.
"Laid upon this gridwork are many mind-generated patterns and structural models used by man for control.
There are no 'sacred designs' which preceded reality. This idea has been invented to make you afraid to revise
or to dispense with unworkable structures, and to give structures dominance over you."
Many of the problems that we deal with in the world can be traced to the structures that we have created and
empowered to act on our behalf. We create these structures, empower them and then they take on a life of their own.
The structures we created become our masters instead of our servants as we originally intended.
Lao Tzu wrote:
When people lost sight of the way to live
Came codes of love and honesty,
Learning came, charity came,
Hypocrisy took charge;
When differences weakened family ties
Came benevolent fathers and dutiful sons;
And when lands were disrupted and misgoverned
Came ministers commended as loyal.
When we loose confidence in our ability to manifest what we need, we build structures to provide for these
needs. These structures can be buildings or they can be institutions like corporations, governments or religions.
Out of our fear we build these structures so that they will endure without change to provide that which we no
longer believe we can provide for ourselves.
One of the primary characteristics of life is change. Structure is created to resist change. When we think of
changing structure we often think in terms of creating new structures to change the old. This often results in two
structures battling for control with living things being the losers.
We saw this when a constitutional structure was created to overcome royal and religious structures. Now we are
seeing corporate structures working to take over the constitutional structure. All of these structures ended up
being suppressive.
At a certain point, many of the social and economic structures we have built take on a sort of life of their own.
They seek to perpetuate themselves by cornering the market on certain of our needs. When these structures get very
large and powerful a few of them may try to totally control our access to food, energy, health care, shelter,
clothing or free choice.
Structure typically uses certain tactics to gain and maintain control. Limitation and control of necessary
resources is one of these tactics. By controlling necessities for life, structure can gain control over us. Thus if
a structure controls our access to food, energy, health care, shelter, clothing or free choice that structure can
effectively control us. On the other hand, the more we are in control of our own source of supply in these areas
the less power we will be giving to structure.
Some scientific and religious structures would prefer to have us believe that the nature of God, the universe and
everything is essentially structured and changeless. The structure of science tells us that immutable physical laws
control our lives and that scientific structure is necessary to bring us the benefits of food, health and energy.
The structure of religion tells us that we must believe only in one version of one book and that the religious
structure (church) must mediate any connection we might want to develop with God, the universe and everything. Both
structures foster these beliefs in order to obtain and maintain control.
Corporate structures tend to try to control us (their "consumers") by threatening to take away those things which
they provide and which they have taught us that we cannot provide for ourselves. Structures use fear as their
greatest ally.
As corporate, governmental and religious structures grow very large and powerful they tend to loose track of the
other needs of the people they were built to serve. They also tend to maximize short term "profit" by "mining"
resources without consideration of sustainability. Supply lines tend to get longer, more interdependent and more
fragile.
Our food supply capability is a good example of this. The small, local, family farm has given way to large, distant
corporate farms. These large farms are much more dependent on petroleum for running equipment and for shipping food
to the distant consumer. As nearby petroleum is "mined" out, the supply lines for it grow longer and more difficult
to support and defend. The large corporate farms also become more and more dependent on chemical poisons and
fertilizers to maintain production levels because they have depleted ("mined") the mineral productivity of the
soil.
As nearby soil is depleted we must go further and further to find productive land. This same scenario has been
repeated over and over by every city-based civilization in the past. At some point the supply lines and profit
margins are stretched so thin that the smallest disruption can bring the entire structure to the ground. We saw
something like this happen with the airline industry after 9-11.
Structure is not alive and can become hostile to life. All of the world's great spiritual teachers have opposed
existing structures and suggested ways to change them. They say that we do not need to believe that we are
dependent on structures to supply our needs. We should not serve structure; structure should serve us.
So, if building new structures is not the best way to bring about change in old structures what are some good ways?
The best way is to connect directly with God, the universe and everything. Spiritual folks call this connection
LOVE, scientists call it quantum coherence or quantum non-locality. Regardless of what it is called the process
involves improving our connection to All That Is.
You can read more of my thoughts on this at:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God.
John 1:1
Then the word was spoken -- in other words, became distinct from God.
A "word" is vibration. Vibration implies here and there -- duality. All of the world is a manifestation of this
vibration.
When you throw a pebble in a pond you will see ripples. If you vibrate sand on a plate you will get patterns like
the patterns in the video at:
The patterns are evidence of standing waves in the vibration. Some modern physicists
postulate that all matter is just the nodes of intersection between various standing waves in the quantum foam.
I believe that these standing wave patterns in the consciousness-energy of spirit generate all physical
structure.
Quantum foam has also been called the aether and the zero point. I think that it is probably the
Adamantine particles that Jesus spoke of in Love Without End - Jesus Speaks (LWE). The adamantine
particles sound a lot like the particles described by Charles Leadbeater in 1906. You can read his description
at:
A modern physicist named Stephen Phillips suggests that the bubbles in consciousness that Leadbeater described are
equivalent to quantum foam and the koilon are the equivalent to super strings.
Several ORMUS researchers have used these concepts in their theories about the nature of ORMUS.
The great physicist David Bohm, suggested that the physical world has a non-physical (spirit) template. He called
this template the "implicate order". Beyond the implicate order he postulated that there is a "super implicate
order" which is the intelligence that creates the patterns of the template.
According to the Gospel of Thomas, Jesus said:
"This heaven shall pass away and the one above it shall pass away, and
the dead are not alive and the living shall not die. In the days when you devoured the dead you made it alive;
when you come into light, what will you do? On the day when you were one, you became two. But when you have
become two, what will you do?"
"This heaven" would be the structure of the physical world. "pass away" means that it is not permanent or
unchanging. As Jesus says in LWE:
"Structure is an organizational factor in the universe, although a secondary
and derivative one. It is love which first brings order out of chaos, but structure implements the durable
patterns of orderly arrangement. Love built your home; structure holds the walls in place. Love built your
nation, structure administers it. Love determines the parameters of right conduct, structure formulates the
laws which enforce it. Like the mind, structure is good if it serves, and tyrannical if it dominates
inflexibly, never submitting to the revisions of love."
Both this heaven (physical reality) and the one above it (the implicate order) are patterns that are subject to the
revisions of love. When we "swallow" the belief that structure (the nearest thing there is to changeless death) has
power over us it is like we have invested structure with life.
Also, when we invest in the concepts of duality, like love and fear as opposites, we have "become two". Jeshua says
this in LWE:
"Once you internalize structure, your life will be driven by two powers:
Love and fear! But you can't serve both . . . although most people try.
"Does this mean that love and fear are opposites?"
"As I have told you before, love has no opposites, for it is the divine
solvent which ends duality. Love can be a choice, however, and so it has alternatives."
"What's the difference between an opposite and an alternative?"
"An alternative is just another possibility upon which you have chosen not to
focus. Therefore, its effect on your life is minimal or nonexistent. The children of God extend creation
through their choices and by their viewpoints of reality. Thus alternatives are
inevitable.
"You see, fasting is an alternative to eating. Both can be experienced, but
not simultaneously. You might have viewed them as opposites, because they are the product of choices. They do
not oppose each other or empower a polarity. Actually, one erases the other. Alternatives are the product of
free will and the fact that you are given choices to make. Alternatives are life empowering and life
changing.
and:
"The subject of opposites could not exist without structure. What you
perceive as opposites is just an apparency within a limited field of perception. If you saw the whole picture,
the polarity would dissolve. Opposites are really just broken circles for which you do not see the connecting
link.
_______________________
"This is true of all 'opposites, 'even technical ones." He looked toward my
paint pallet and made a reference to the colors I was using. "Black seems to be the opposite of white because
it is the ultimate in absorption while white is the ultimate in reflectance. In actuality, however, this
spectrum extends beyond black and white. Black proceeds to dark transparency, as white proceeds to light
transparency, and both eventually arrive at total clarity. The circle is therefore
complete.
"All opposites can be resolved by the connecting link which restores their
circle. To institute them as a polarity is an agenda of ignorance and self-serving structure. Love is the
ultimate connection, and in the presence of love, other connections are easy to find. In its absence, many
needed connections may be obscured for eons. Love ends duality, thus it has no opposites.
"Love has no polarity, but when you have chosen alternatives to it, the
structures which replace love are full of opposites. Fear is a common emotion of those whose lives are driven
by structure, for structure is mortal and always in peril. Hatred is a common attitude of those whose lives are
vested in structure or conquered by it. Hatred is just a defense against the return of
love.
"Love opposes nothing, but conquers all. Love is in the world but not of it!
Fear and hatred, and the evils which come from them, are all derivative. Love is primary. Love existed before
the universe, and most certainly before the structures of the world. In the beginning there was no evil, fear,
or hatred. There was only One Love, One Body of Potential, and One Spirit. As manifestations began to take
shape, free will was extended to every aspect of love, to be life, to experience life, to fulfill its
potential, and to know itself as love. There was even the choice to deny its own nature, if that should be
desired. From this last choice all the 'weeds' of peril have sprung. LWE
We hear those who serve structure saying things like "You are either with us or against us". This kind of dualistic
or binary thinking is at the core of all separation between people. Binary thinking is at the core of "judging
others".
Jesus said:
"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be
judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Matthew 7:1-2
Binary thinking is built into our language. It is the very essence of words and logic. Lao Tzu said this about
dualistic thinking:
People through finding something beautiful
Think something else unbeautiful,
Through finding one man fit
Judge another unfit.
Life and death, though stemming from each other, seem to conflict as stages of change,
Difficult and easy as phases of achievement,
Long and short as measures of contrast,
High and low as degrees of relation;
But, since the varying of tones gives music to a voice
And what is is the was of what shall be,
The sanest man
Sets up no deed,
Lays down no law,
Takes everything that happens as it comes,
As something to animate, not to appropriate,
To earn, not to own,
To accept naturally without self-importance:
If you never assume importance
You never lose it.
Existence is beyond the power of words
To define:
Terms may be used
But are none of them absolute.
In the beginning of heaven and earth there were no words,
Words came out of the womb of matter;
And whether a man dispassionately
Sees to the core of life
Or passionately
Sees the surface,
The core and the surface
Are essentially the same,
Words making them seem different
Only to express appearance.
If name be needed, wonder names them both:
From wonder into wonder
Existence opens.
Beliefs are structures and books are structures. Both are perpetuated by words and either/or (binary) thinking. Yet
it is possible to see the message of unity that shines through all of the scriptures of the world.
"When structure interprets the Bible, it does so to perpetuate its
illusions. When love reads the Bible, it does so to penetrate illusion and arrive at the truth."
LWE
"Unity is the instrument of all goodness. Division is the instrument of
all evil." LWE
Though Jesus would seem to be equating belief structures and the division that they can create with evil, I don't
think he is saying that structure is inherently evil. The problem comes when we worship structure as a master
rather than using it to serve love.
"Structure creates the illusion that your life has been cut into segments of
time and space or suspended elsewhere in improbable situations. Only the dominance of structure can ever
separate you from the totality of who you are. The power of the Holy Spirit is that it can shatter the illusion
of separation and restore the soul to its simple wholeness. In the presence of the Holy Spirit, you are one
with your Creator, and all that you are is rejoined in personal integrity. Wholeness is Holy, wholeness is
healing. That is the essence of all miracles physical, mental, financial, and social. Whatever has been torn
apart comes back together into a state of wholeness. Love supports wholeness, and wholeness supports love.
Through that common bond, love can heal anything."
"On the other hand, it is the nature of structure to cut your life into pieces
and then set one part against another. Would you have that for your master?"
"The source of human suffering is separation from God, from the love that
you are, and from an understanding of how love commands the universe. In a state of separation, however, the
most grievous mistake is the one of serving structure. As a master, structure is cruel, divisive, and
treasonous. In a state of separation, structure will always seek to master you, but ironically when wholeness
is restored structure becomes a humble and willing servant. LWE
We perpetuate the power of fear and structure by supporting it with our beliefs and by focusing our attention on
it. If we put our attention on what we love instead, those structures that we fear will fade away on their own. I
think that this is what Jesus was talking about in the Sermon on the Mount when he said:
"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do
they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall
he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we
drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your
heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:28-33
To me this means that same thing as the Persian mystic Rumi meant when he wrote:
"For sixty years I have been forgetful, every minute, but not for a second has
this flowing toward me stopped or slowed."
Abundance flows toward us when we forget to think of those things we fear or hate.
It is the same as what Emmet Fox wrote in "The Golden Key":
"All you have to do is this: Stop thinking about the difficulty, whatever it
is, and think about God instead. This is the complete rule, and if only you will do this, the trouble, whatever
it is, will disappear."
I think that this is what Jesus was saying in LWE when he first mentioned structure:
"The seventh day has been greatly misinterpreted to mean that the Creator
retired. Nothing could be further from the truth. The true meaning is that He creates, maintains, loves, and
assists by BEING, not by DOING. Resting, not retiring! If you would be like your Father, you will learn the
secret of commanding life through BEING LOVE. As you attain that ability you will rise above structure. The
seventh day is a celebration of your Creator's supremacy over structure. Whenever you take it unto yourself,
you harmonize with that principle. Whenever you extend it to others, you are liberating the world from its
prison."
Here is another way of saying it:
Abraham: Fear is the feeling sensation that is present within you when you have
both a desire and a belief that contradicts it. Fear is a response to the state of your vibration. You are a
vibrational being, and every moment offering a signal. Your vibration could be called thought, it could be
called memory, it could be called fantasy, it could be called imagination, it could be called Energy. In other
words, your vibration could be called, "As I stand in my now, and I think about the present, or I think about
the future, or I think about the past -- all of that is thought. Whatever it is I'm perceiving is causing me to
offer a vibration, and that vibration is being answered or matched by All-That-Is.
So when I feel fear, what it always means is, I am offering a thought that you
might call desire and a thought that you might call belief that are contradictory. The presence of fear always
means the presence of resistance. The presence of resistance always means not allowing the Energy of desire to
flow through me--always, without exception. Same with confusion; same with vulnerability; same with anger; same
with unworthiness; same with guilt. All negative emotions mean the same thing. You just call them different
things because they play out differently in your experience -- but they all mean the same
thing.
The vibration of fear is usually a very strong vibration, which usually means
there is the presence of a very strong desire within you. Often, when you feel fear, it is because you have a
belief that contradicts basic elements that are natural to you. Your natural instinct, from your broadest
Nonphysical perspective, is to know your power. Fear is a vibration when you feel powerless. Your natural
instinctual Nonphysical vibration is to know your worthiness, know your rightness, know your value. And the
feeling of fear is always when you are contradicting that thought.
We would want you to say, "Quite a bit of the time I feel fearful or vulnerable
or limited, and what that feeling means is: I'm in that moment holding a desire that contradicts my past
thought, or my beliefs..." Remember that a belief is just a thought you keep thinking, it's just a habit of
thought. It's just sort of the way you've always thought it, and so it is the way you are now thinking
it.
And so, as you are feeling fear, all it means is, "I've got a desire that my
belief is not agreeing with. Now, what thought feels better about this? I've got hold of this stick, where my
desire is here, my belief is here. What thought feels better?" And as you just softly talk to yourself about
that subject, reaching for the thought that feels better, what happens is you shift the
Energy.
It's like the teeter-totter on the fulcrum, and it's clearly down here, and you
would like it to be up here. And so, you reach for the thought that feels better, and you reach for the thought
that feels better, and you reach for the thought that feels better...and it doesn't look like anything's
happening. And then, all of a sudden, one more time, you reach for the thought that feels better, and there it
goes! The fear is gone without even knowing it, just by reaching for the thought that feels better. There is so
much reward in just feeling better in your "now". Because, so often, you're wanting to reach for the thought
that feels better because, "Whoop-de-doo, this is big time good fun!" In other words, "I want to get there! I
would like every effort to take me there. I would like every thought that I think, and every time I go to a
workshop, and every time I make a little bit of effort, I would like it to take me there!" And it's irritating
that it doesn't take you there, to that manifestation.
We want you to not get so hung up on the manifestation, and start taking
pleasure in the incremental relief. Pleasure in the fact that this feels a little better. Pleasure in the fact
that you can actually, with your own will power and your own determination, choose a thought that feels
better.
It is Unnatural to Not Feel Good
We offer an analogy, about the cork bobbing on the body of water. It's up here
floating, floating, floating. And in our analogy this cork is bobbing in the place of Pure Positive Energy.
When you take hold of the cork and hold it under the water, that's what negative emotion is. You're not
allowing the natural quality of the cork, you're doing something that does not allow the cork to do what it
usually would do. You're holding it in an unnatural place with your attention to this thought of something that
you do not want.
But when you withdraw your attention from it, and you let go of the cork, it
bobs right back up there. It is natural for you to be in this pure positive place. It is unnatural for you not
to feel good. But what happens in your physical environment where you've been trained by other humans who
didn't feel so good either, is that you've come to accept the way you feel as being the natural way that you
feel.
And now, through meditation, or through consciously reaching for the better
feeling, you set higher standards. Until then it becomes consciously uncomfortable for you to dip into the
lower Energies. You will never be at a place where you won't feel negative emotion. Nor would we ever want you
to be at that place, because that would be like shooting Novocain into your fingers so that you don't feel
anything hot or sharp. You say, "Well, it sure is a lot better now that I can bang my hands on things. You
know, I can shut my hands in car doors and it doesn't even bother me any more. I feel no pain." But it's not
good for your fingers. Pretty soon you have flat, little flabby hands flapping around. You've destroyed your
hands, even though it was painless.
And so, that's what that fear is. It's sort of an acquiescence. It's submission
to a vibration that's not natural to who you really are. And you're awakening now to those higher
standards.
Take mood checks and ask yourself, what is my mood? Well, I'm feeling fearful.
And then ask yourself, well overall, do I have reason to fear? And as you reach for the more general statement,
you recognize, you don't have anything to be fearful about.
We think what you're doing is sort of very specifically, channeling the worries
of a larger mass consciousness. You are susceptible to Energy. And so, for example, if you were living in a
retirement community where there were many people who were feeling vulnerable about their money, or feeling
worried about what their future would provide, and you are sensitive to Energy, you could very well be picking
up on the consensus of the group around you, even though it has nothing to do with who you
are.
But you must have a little spattering of that within you, or you could not be
finding harmony with that greater consensus. Every thought that has ever been thought exists. And then, by Law
of Attraction, those thoughts coalesce, so that there are pockets of Thought Forms. And so, very often, just
driving from city to city, if you are sensitive to vibration, you can feel different Energies in different
cities. Well, what we are wanting you to do, is get so good at setting your own Tone, that it doesn't matter
what the fluctuations of Energies are around you, you are always holding a steady course.
