TWD Lady's Stories
STILL SLEEP WALKING
Shortly after my grandpa walked-on, mom and dad were finally able to get their dream house finished and we were
able to move out of the garage house. Hence finally able to make the garage house what it was meant to be, a
garage. Maybe now that I had new surroundings and turned 13 I would stop or at least slow down on my sleep walking
that I had been doing since I was 6 years old. For some reason I would wake up outside in the back yard and have to
pound on the door or toss a pebble at my parents bedroom window to get them up and let me back in the house.
They questioned me to see if I could remember what I was dreaming that might have caused me to walk in my sleep,
I could never seem to remember. I not only walked in my sleep, but literally slept with my eyes wide open as if I
was just starring out into space. Later on in years I found out that some times my mom slept with her eyes open
too, so maybe it was something that was inherited? At least the nose bleeds I had for no reason was beginning to
slow down too, that was a pain to deal with, especially when wearing light colored clothing.
One morning dad went to the kitchen door without saying a word; we followed him to see what he was up to. He
opened it, the opened the screen door and locked it, then tried to close it from the outside, it wouldn't close,
even slamming it, it wouldn't close and it made so much noise it would of woke up the dead! He turned to me and
just gave me the oddest look and never said a word. That got me to thinking, how did I get outside if I was sleep
walking and manage to close and lock the screen door behind me so I couldn't get back into the house? I'm not sure
when that finally stopped.
A WALK TO THE STORE
I was finally sweet 16. Mom had asked me if I would walk to the store to get a few things for her for supper
that night, I loved walking to the store, I have always loved to walk any where. I didn't get to far, only half way
down our block when I stopped in mid stride!! Things in my head started whirling, I saw things, one vision after
another.
I saw the man I would marry, we would have a lodge (teepee) in our yard, he would be a leader of a Native
American tribe for a short while, I knew the child we would have would be VERY independent and what sex the child
was going to be, the lose of a baby, the place we would live for many years to come, some of the things that we
would have and do in our lives together and more. We would fix up a house, then it all stopped, I never saw if we
ever really got that house fixed up or not, then I was falling. Falling down into a black hole, a vortex with white
spiral lines running down into the blackness.
Then my foot hit the sidewalk, it came down hard enough that it felt like I jarred my brain, the sound of my
mother's voice began to penetrate my ears. SAY!! Young lady, stop your dilly dallying and get the move on, I need
those things for supper TONIGHT!! I looked around to see if any of the neighbors were out in the yard, did they see
me standing there with my foot up in the air like a statue? I felt quite embarrassed, how the heck long had I been
standing there that way?
After our third move we finally landed in the house that I had seen in the vision when I was 16, then my dad
reminded me that when I was 3 years old I had all ways said that I was going to live in this area!! I had forgotten
about that, but dad didn't, he got a big chuckle out of that!! ALL of the things in that vision came true and are
coming true now, we are slowly getting this house fixed up, the black whole with the white spiral is now making
sense to me. My hubby was elected to be a Native American leader that did last for a short while, we didn't have
the money it took to do the traveling that was required of us so he stepped down and the position was passed on to
someone else. I did loose a child when 3 months due to tubular pregnancy, and the child I saw that we did have is
not only the right sex, BUT VERY independent!! <G>
WONDERFUL MRS. BACON
For three years I worked as a volunteer at all the hospitals in this town, but it wasn't until I worked at the
American Legion that I saw something very familiar. I was asked to work late at night for a few weeks so I did. The
hospital was laid out like a hub with spokes, it was a very old place, a bit musty smelling, creaking floor board,
not very well lit down the long corridors and I'll admit kind of spooky at night until I got used to it!!
This one patient named Mrs. Bacon was a wonderful lady, very sweet, very kind; there was just something about
her. She had brittle bones and they would break when turning over in bed, she never complained, never spoke or
uttered a cross word. She all ways said thank you and called everyone sweaty or dear and managed to give a smile.
Close to the end of the month when I was making rounds checking on patients making sure they were in bed or seeing
if they needed anything, I walked into Mrs. Bacon's room. She didn't eat her supper, so I asked if I could get her
any thing she might like, any thing at all, she said no, she wasn't hungry then stated that she wouldn't be needing
to eat any more.
I took her tray back to the main lobby and put it in the rack to be taken back to the kitchen, something just
didn't seem quite right so I walked back to her room. Her light was still out, but there was a kind of a glow in
her room, I walked on past, took about 8 steps and stopped. I walked back words a few steps and then turned around
and just stood at her door to see what at first looked like other people in her room. That wasn't right, they
aren't doctors and nurses, how can anyone be standing on the other side of her bed when it's pushed up against the
wall? I no sooner thought that when they looked up at me and said you don't belong here but in a nice way. I took a
few steps away from her door down the hall and stopped on a dime, WAIT ONE MINUTE I thought!! This is to much like
when my grandpa walked-on!! Did I really see things right, did that lady sitting on the outside edge of her bed
have wings like an angle or am I imagining things? It is late and I am sleepy!!
I went right back to her room, she was sitting on the edge of the bed, she looked up and smiled, I thought ok,
all is well and AGAIN started to walk away, then NO, dang it what's really happening and went back AGAIN!! This
time the room was dark as if a black screen had been put up, I went straight to the nurse's station and got a nurse
to go back to Mrs. Bacon's room with me. We walked in the room, the nurse turned on the bed lamp, I reached for
Mrs. Bacon's hand and it was ice cold. The nurse took out her stethoscope, Mrs. Bacon was gone. The nurse looked at
me and saw a tear trickle down my face, she put her arm around me and said you'll get used to this kind of thing
honey and left. But that's not why I had a tear running down my face, WHY am I seeing things like this and I can't
tell anyone??
THE FUSE BOX AND THE BEAN PAN
I need to back up some, when I was about 8 years old and we still lived in the garage house, I took a tumble
when stepping out of the back seat of my parent's car. Needless to say I had two bloody knees since the driveway
was all gravel, mom and dad sat patiently picking out the gravel stones then bandaged my knees up.
Dad said since I couldn't move around to good he and mom went out to the garden to pick snap beans and the three
of us would sit and de-end, de-string and snap the beans for supper. I sat in a rocking chair with both feet upon a
footstool; the couch was to my left with newspaper spread out to toss the unwanted bean parts onto and a pan sat
next to that for the snapped beans. Mom was sitting on the couch next to the bean pan and dad was sitting next to
mom, and the fuse box was right behind dad's head on the wall!!
A thunderstorm rolled in and the rain was coming down hard, lightening danced all over the sky while the thunder
rolled and shook the windows a few times. I sat quietly snapping my little pile of beans; I looked up at dad and
said, "Dad, what would it sound like if lightening hit the switch box?" Before he could answer, a loud - CRRRAAACK,
BOOM, POP, SNAP, FIZZLE HISSSSS came from the box behind dad. It scared me so bad and I don't know how I manage to
do this especially with my feet up, but I came right straight up off the rocker and landed right in the bean pan
next to mom on the couch.
After mom and dad got the bean pan sucked off my back side and I got resituated back in the rocker with my feet
up again, as we were all laughing hysterically, dad looked at me and said, "It would sound like that!"
THE STORM SHELTER DOOR
Our new house was really nice and it had a really big basement, dad had made a storm shelter off to one side of
the basement that we could run to when the threat of tornadoes came up. The door was a huge laminated 6 1/2 foot
high and 4 foot wide heavy 2 inch thick steel door that grandpa helped dad build before he walked-on. The door was
made long before the basement of my parents dream house was ever poured, so the door was ready and waiting for the
day it could be hung. The way we opened the door was, we had to push down on the handle which lifted a 1/2-inch
flat bar straight up and then we pulled the door open. The door hinges had quite a squeak to them and when the door
latch went closed it
made quite a bang, the door and latch had a VERY distinct sound, their was no opening or closing it
quietly!!
One afternoon my brother and I got home from school at the same time which didn't happen very often due to extra
activities after school. We walked down the side walk to the house jabbering at each other, entered the door to the
landing and found the inside door to the kitchen was locked and the blind was pulled, we couldn't get into the
house. We just stood there looking at each other wondering, so the next logical thing we did was, start pounding on
the door and hollering, MOM LET US IN !!!! Mom came on the run, up went the blind, she unlocked the door and let us
in, we asked what was going on? She semi snapped at us and said that she would tell us when dad got home for supper
which would be in about 10 minutes, she didn't want to tell it twice!! My brother and I just looked at each other
as we walked through the house, GEEEEEZ, what's with mom????
Finally at supper, mom said that she heard the latch of the storm shelter door go down, it scared her so she
locked the door and pulled the blind. Dad said that maybe for some reason the latch hadn't dropped all the way down
from the last time the door was opened and he would check it out after supper. Mom said that it wasn't the sound of
a latch that was just hung up and quietly gave dad the ole evil eye!!
A couple of days went by and the same thing when I came home from school, door locked, and blind pulled. This
time she not only heard the latch, but the door squeaked as if opening and closing, Dad went down and checked out
the door, it looked undisturbed and the latch was in its proper place. He just didn't know what to do.
The very next day the same thing, not only the sound of that door opening and closing, but then - the sounds of
some one coming up the steps from the basement!! We all just sat at the supper table not saying a word and picking
at our food, what could anyone say or do to make mom feel better or stop this from happening and was it really
happening?
For some reason, I blurted out hey, ya know, grandpa helped dad build that door before he passed away, maybe
he's come back to check it out and was gonna come up the stairs to visit with ya mom!! That went over like a lead
balloon, dad gave me the evil eye and mom just raised an eyebrow - gulp - guess I shouldn't have said that!!
Later I thought that there was something to that statement because it NEVER happened again after that. So did
grandpa really come back to check out the door he helped dad build or was it something else? Did it stop happening
because he was acknowledge or was there another reason?
SNEAKY SOUP
(Age - 20)
It was mid January and my hubby and I were still going together, he had called me a few days before and said he
wasn't feeling well. Close to a week went by and I began to feel panicky, ahh well, maybe it's because I haven't
heard from him and tried to slough it off, he'll be all right. The next morning the anxiety was worse, I REALLY
need to get some soup and groceries and take them to him, I just know he's in trouble, but how am I going to
accomplish this when I have no car?
I nervously started talking to mom and told her how I felt and pleaded to let me take the car, get some
groceries and take them to him. She looked at me with that, OH SH*! expression!! Then relented and said, "If you
can get back here before your dad gets home so the engine has time to cool off, so he won't know what I have let
you do, then you can!!"
I was off in a heartbeat, went to the store, and then called him to let him know I was coming. It was 45 minutes
to his place. When I arrived I walked in, he meant me in his bedroom door way and not looking too healthy either,
he was weaker than a newborn kitten, whiter than a sheet!! I fixed 2 cans of chicken noodle soup, tossed in onion,
heated it and had to leave to get the car back into the garage so the engine would be cooled and sweep the tracks
off the cement drive. I did it, I made it and felt that some how what I did would mean a matter of life or death
for him.
After he was well again and we could be together, he asked me if I knew that I saved his life by doing what I
did!! Then he told me the evening before I brought the soup and fixed it, he thought he was up walking around
without the lights on in the house. He got up because he was hearing music and wanted to know where it was coming
from. A being that looked all silvery and shinny stood before him and asked if he wanted to go join the orchestra
or did he want to stay here? What do you mean stay here, I am here!! The man said you are really ill, if you don't
find a way to get up and eat something you are going to die. Do you want to stay here or go back and live? My hubby
to be told him that even though it was a nice place but he didn't want to leave the place he was at, then he felt
himself settle down back into bed, maybe it was more like back into his body?
He was out of soup and to weak to cook a meal; he had double pneumonia and hadn't eaten for several days. He was
not from around here, he had no family around to help him and since he was new in town he had no real friends he
could call on for help. Oh yeah, I did get the car back in time for the engine to cool off and got the cement
swept, dad NEVER found out what mom let me do.
LOST IN THE FOG
My hubby and I had been married for two years, I was 22 and our child was a few months old. We lived in a nice
house that had a wonderful bay window, the kind that you could plant real plants in. One morning when I woke, I
stood in the kitchen leaning against the doorway to the living room looking out the bay window while waiting for
the coffee to heat up on the stove. (the days before microwaves were available) The fog was so thick you couldn't
even see your hand when held out at arms length.
As I watched the fog still half asleep I thought geeeez it looks like its coming right through the window, the
living room is filling with fog!! Then I saw the headlights of a stopped car, a woman passed in front of the
headlights as another car came screaming by way to fast, I saw the red taillights as she walked behind the car as
well. MOM, it's MOM, she's lost in the fog, she dang near got hit. She stopped in the road to close to the
centerline, she was looking to see if she could figure out where she was at on the road and maybe where she was at,
she's lost!!!! I GOTTA get dressed and go help her!!!!
I threw on my cloths, snatched my baby and put our child in the car seat, grabbed my purse and was out the door.
I drove about one half mile and began to feel panicky, think I had better get back to the house before I get so
darn lost, I had better hurry too because the phone is going to be ringing!! I managed to get turned around and
carefully but quickly headed back to the house, pulled into the drive, grabbed up my baby, rushed to the door and
as I got it unlocked with one foot inside the door, the phone started ringing.
I picked up the phone and without a thought just blurted out - MOTHER!! What on earth are you doing out in this
fog, you damn near got yourself killed!! I know you're safe, but where ARE YOU? Right away she told me she went to
do laundry, she couldn't find her way back to the house so stopped at a friends house and.............then just
stopped in mid sentence!! She said, "SAAAAAAAY, how did you know I was out this morning and all most got hit by a
car?" I told her that I wasn't sure if she would believe it and told her what happened any way. She said, "Well,
maybe ya did, but some how I guess you knew!" We never talked about it again.
CZAR
I raised a beautiful black and tan German shepherd puppy that grew to be way over sized and hip dysphasia began
to set in while he was still young. Czar was wonderful for the first year and a half, then he began to get ornery
with both of us and our child was only 3 months old. I didn't want to have him put down and I couldn't keep him, so
I talked with some friends that my hubby knew about Czar's problem, they told me of a lady they knew that could
give him a wide open farm to run on and had enough money to have surgery done for him when he would need it.
Reluctantly I let Czar go and kept telling myself that it was for his own good.
Two months later I sat reading the newspaper at 9:30 p.m. when the paper seemed to become transparent and I saw
Czar standing on the other side of the paper. I dropped the paper, leaned over to instinctively pet him as I told
him how I missed him. Then his ears perked up as if he heard a whistle, he ran away from me and leaped over a white
picket fence and was gone.
Suddenly I realized what had just happened, at the same time my hubby was looking at me strangely and asked what
did you say? I looked at him and said I HAVE to find Czar he's in trouble!! I shot to the phone to call the people
that took him to that farm, their phone number had been disconnected, dead end!! All I could do now was wait until
morning, the thought of the dog pound entered my mind. FINALLY morning came, I called the pound and had a very
interesting talk with the manager. Seems at 9;29 the night before they put Czar to sleep!!
It turned out that Czar never went to a farm or to a person that could take good care of him as promised.
Instead the young girl that had him had a small house with a very small fenced in back yard. While Czar could still
be useful to her, she would ride around with him in her convertible showing him off. When he really began to go
down hill she put him on a chain out behind her house, when he began to get ornery with her, she put one of those
spiked training collars on him and shortened his chain even more. The neighbors turned the girl in to the humane
society; Czar had no water, no food and was literally starving to death. The people at the pound took him that
evening, fed him a big pan of food, which is the WRONG thing to do for a half starved animal; you don't give them
so much food that it just about kills them. Anyway, they fed him too much, he bloated and was in misery, and their
vet said Czar's hip problem was way beyond help, so they simply put him down.
I have always thought of that incident as Czar coming to say good-bye to me, he still loved me. I feel that
while he lay and suffered, his thoughts and memory was of his first home where he truly was loved, he missed his
first mistress. It still tears me apart to even write about this, guess I've never really forgiven myself for not
following up to see how he was doing. I was told once that once you give an animal up to someone else you should
stay away for at least 3 months so they won't remember you and will readjust better to their new home and owners. I
DO NOT believe that any more!! Oh and the people who's phone was disconnected, they separated and later
divorced!!
THE TV ANTENNAE
One weekend my hubby and I were talking about electronics, it was a stormy day and was raining buckets. I asked
him what would happen if lightening hit the TV antennae, would it blow the TV set up? I no sooner got those words
out and CRACK, KAAAABOOM. yeah, lightening hit the TV antennae!!
The TV didn't blow up, the antennae lost one of the ears, but for some reason TV didn't work as good after
that!!
ART NOUVEAU COMES TO VISIT
I have this beautiful rocking chair that is an Art Nouveau piece, it has a lady's face with her wind blown hair
carved in the back of the chair. My mother-in-law obtained the rocker through her hubby's family line a long time
before my hubby and I met and married. I had placed the rocker over by the bay window so I could relax, rock and
look out the window. Some times when I would get up in the morning the rocker would be turned facing out towards
the road, so I would turn it back around the way it was supposed to be sitting. A few times when I would come home
from visiting my mom the rocker would be turned as if the lady's face wanted to look out the window.
After a month of this rocker being turned, I began to ask my hubby to PLEASE turn the rocker back the way he
found it after sitting in it. He asked me what I meant by that; he didn't turn the rocker around to face out the
window!! I told him that I thought he had sat in the rocker to drink his coffee in the morning before work and just
left it. And, some times he got to come home for lunch and if I wasn't at home, I thought he sat in the rocker to
eat lunch and look out the window. WRONG!!!! He told me that he NEVER sat in or moved the rocking chair, it wasn't
comfortable for him to sit in!! Ok then, what is going on, has Art Nouveau come back to check out the rocker ??
One Saturday morning we sat at the little breakfast bar in our kitchen eating breakfast when without a word my
hubby stood straight up and flew into the living room!! I asked what was wrong? He didn't answer me which
frustrated the heck out of me, he stood in the living room kitchen door way just watching and STILL not answering
me, soooooo, I stood in front of him to get his undivided!! Still looking over my head and ignoring me, I was about
ready to cuff him when he started laughing!! FINALLY he said that he heard something in the living room and wanted
to just be still and watch. OOOOK so let me in on the big mystery!!
He told me to turn around and watch the rocking chair, still slightly ticked off I did. The narrow crank open
window on the side of the bay window was open; the breeze blew the drape over the corner of the chair back. When
the drape slid off of the corner of the chair, it moved the rocker slightly so it turned on the carpet a little at
a time. The sound he heard was the weight in the hem of the drape falling back and hitting the sand stone. This
kept up until the drape had pulled the rocking chair around to face out the window!! So not everything in our lives
is a totally mystery, Art Nouveau is a style from the early 1900's, not a person, I just had to tell about this
one!! :>)
HEY GOD
One Sunday afternoon my hubby was helping me do up the dishes, the breeze that wafted through the kitchen window
and open door was really nice and made us feel a bit on the lazy side. Not a cloud in the sky, the sun shown so
brightly, what we wouldn't give for a hammock to lay out in. Ok, now you know it was a really nice day!! :>)
I had asked my hubby a question, he answered it, I said how come, and he gave the answer and then said what for?
We both were being silly, finally he said, I don't knooooow, go ask God!! So being a smart allelic, I pushed the
screen door in the kitchen open, looked up to the sky and said, " OH HEEEEEY GOOOOOOOD, what for how come?"
I got a huge surprise, a clap of thunder sounded and a flash of lightening shot across the cloudless sky just
once!! I pulled my head back into the house and closed the screen door and went back to finishing the dishes!! My
hubby and I just looked at each other and laughed a little but kept an eye on what it was doing outside. My hubby
reminded me of the fuse box when I was a kid and our TV antenna!! We had a beautiful summer day, no more lightening
and no more thunder!!
Was it a freak of nature, was their a storm some where close by we didn't know about or did God or something
playfully answer back?
TWO RESTLESS POODLES
I was 26 years old when we finally moved into the house where we are in now, our child was 4 years old and would
have to ride the bus to school when it started about three months later. I went to the basement to unpack more
things to put into place in the house, on the way back up the stairs I heard the sound of an animals nails clicking
on the steps as if it was following me. HMMMM!! Maybe I'm just tired and only thought I heard that, but it happened
AGAIN. I told my hubby about it when he came home from work that evening, he said that maybe it was a sound from
outside that I heard.
After a week of this continued sound of dogs nails clicking on the steps, I decided to buy some carpet squares
and carpet those steps, that would stop that, and it did, no more sound. BUT NOW, each time I went up or down the
steps, I could literally feel fur brush up against the side of my legs!! OHHHHH GEEEEEEEZ!!!! What NOW?? I
shouldn't of asked!! Soon the carpet tiles started coming off, even with double sticky tape they would not stay on,
nothing for it, I gave up, I removed them and just listened to the clicking sound and kept feeling what felt like
an animals fur against my legs.
After another week or so I came home from the grocery store and could not get up stairs fast enough. I just
dreaded passing by the basement door, it gave me the creeps, I began to get visions of blood all over the place and
something about two good sized dogs laying there, it was awful. I began to feel as if I was going out of my mind; I
hesitated to say anything to my hubby in fear that he would think I was REALLY going off my rocker!!
Now a month has passed, I CAN NOT stand to be in this house between the hours of 2:15 and 4:45 p.m., I REALLY
needed to get out of here. At first I just stayed out side, then I began to go visit the neighbor half a mile down
the road after leaving our child a note as to where I was at and to come down to the neighbors.
After three weeks of visiting the neighbor day after day, this one time in particular she had company. Our child
leaned over to me to ask if we could go home now, I said no, not yet. The neighbor lady looked at me and said, "You
know, I really do like having you come down here, buuuut, why are you here so much and always between these hours?"
OH GULP!! Her friend said what's the matter, you don't look so good!!
Well, ahhhhh geeeee!! Ok you got me, you are going to think I'm off my rocker, maybe I am who knows!?!? So
here's what the problem is, I hear dogs nails and feel dog fur each time I come up and down the basement steps,
it's kinky feeling fur like a poodle. Each time I have to cross the area where the front basement door is I see
blood all over the place and animal parts as if one has been dissected and or slaughtered. This is driving me NUTS,
but then again, maybe I AM!!!! This was a nice thing to blurt out in front of a 4 year old!! Then my 4 year old
spoke up and said, "Mommy, you mean the white dogs that are dead?" I was a bit shocked but kept my cool and said
yes, those dogs!! I was almost in tears, I felt confused and had a LOT of anxiety inside that I was holding
back.
The neighbor lady and her friend just sat there with their mouths open and looking at us with big eyes. I
couldn't help it, I started laughing, nerves I guess, then I said OK you two, tell me what you seem to know!! The
neighbor lady started with a question; don't you know what happened up there in YOUR house? I answered her with, if
I did, I don't think I would be sitting here in your kitchen day after day for the past few months now would I??
And gave her a grin.
Then she and her friend got serious, the people that originally owned the house had a very difficult time even
getting it built, finally they did move in. They had two white standard sized poodles that they would put in the
laundry room and close the door when they went away so the dogs wouldn't tear up the house. They left some time
around noon to go shopping, the police figured about 2 p.m. two robbers broke into the place and the robbers
figured they had it made with the dogs being shut up in the laundry room.
It didn't take the dogs long, at least one of them to get the door open, one got out, the veterinarian thinks
that the other dog accidentally knocked the door closed when the first one got out. Judging by the autopsies of the
dogs,, the first poodle was killed around 2:15 p.m. by the basement door where one of the robbers was at, that's
the dog that had it's tummy slit open. The rug in front of the door soaked up a lot of the blood.
The second poodle was killed about 4:45 p.m., about the time the robbers were probably trying to leave. The vet
said that apparently the second one managed to get out and get a hold of one of the robbers by the leg or
something, that dog was found just outside of the door, their was human blood found on the dog's face and that
dog's throat had been slit. The original owners got home at 5 p.m. and found their dead dogs and the house
ransacked beyond belief.
One of the robbers had stepped in a pool of blood from one of the dogs, the police found a bloody shoe print on
the lawn just past the outside steps that go up to the kitchen door, they followed it and found one of the robbers
hiding way out behind your place in the woods. The guy had a gun and shot at the police, course the cops shot back;
when they did they killed the robber. BUT, the side of the robbers pant leg was torn and blood soaked, he had a
nasty dog wound on the side of his leg. As far as its known, the other robber got away. So see gal, you are not
going crazy, something bad up there did happen and you're picking up on it.
We finally left the neighbors house and walked back home, we got there just as my hubby was pulling in the
drive, he knew by the look on our faces that something wasn't quite right. Once we got into the house we talked
about what the neighbor lady had told us. Once all of this was out in the open, I never felt the fur against my
legs nor did I hear the sound of the dog's nails again.
DANCE BELLS, THE DREAM AND THE SACRED ROCK
Early one spring evening my hubby and I heard what sounded like dance bells jingling out in the western part of
the yard, A LOT of them!! Good dance bells are fairly large and are worn on a Native American's boots and
moccasins, some are smaller like the smaller typical jingle bells. Dance bells are used to help waken the spirit or
spirits. It literally sounded as if their were several tribes outside dancing in the yard, it was almost defining
it was so loud.
My hubby said that, that reminded him of the reoccurring dreams he was having for the past two months, which
seemed more like out of body experience it was that real. He said that it was like he was right among the people,
he could see them but they couldn't see him. There was a village over the south hill, they walked down the hollow
over to the river for water. The hill way out behind the house was really a burial ground and another was over to
the west farther. In his dreams he saw where fish were hung and smoked for later use, he even showed me the spots
where he saw all of these things.
Off and on over the following two months or so, I kept thinking about a boulder like rock, for some reason, I
wanted to find the type of boulder like rock that is used for grinding corn on. During this time we kept hearing
the dance bells and my hubby kept having his out of body dream like experience.
One evening the neighbors that are about a mile or so down the road called and asked if we would like to come to
there house for awhile. As we sat around and talked our friend brought out some pottery shards that he had found in
the woods back on their land. They had the history of the whole area, seems their really was a Native American
village where our house is, the hill out back is a Sacred Burial ground as well as the second one where my hubby
saw it. About two months later I decided that I would go down on the lower level of our property and cut down some
unwanted brush. As I chopped and hacked away, lo and behold I found the boulder like rock I had been thinking of!!
I called my hubby to come look at it and got the neighbor over to inspect it as well. The big rock used to sit
where our house is, a dozer was used to move it down to the lower part of the land, and we moved it up to the back
where we feel it belongs. We can clearly see the area where the corn was ground on it, I was never so tickled in
all my life, and to think, all this time it was right under my nose - FIGURES!!
THE NEWSPAPER ARTICLE
One early fall morning my mom called me and asked if I knew so and so. I don't remember at that time, the young
girls name, but I told mom yes, we went to school together. Mom said that I would probably be interested in what
she read in the news paper then, and began reading to me about the car accident this girl was in, how it happened,
where it happened, the time it happened and the where and when her funeral was going to be. I asked her to save it
for me and I would be out the next day to get it, then we hung up the phone.
As promised I went out to mom's house the following day, she got the folded news paper, pointed to the spot and
handed it to me without looking at it. I'm sitting there looking where she pointed and not seeing any thing like
what she read. Finally she asked me why I didn't have any comments, I looked at her with a blank and said look,
it's not here mom, nowhere on the page.
She grabbed the paper and started going through it, she didn't find it either, so she laid the paper fully
opened on the kitchen table and we BOTH went through that newspaper with a fine toothed comb and NOTHING!! She
started panicking and thinking she was going crazy, she started telling me where she saw the article, it was on the
lower left corner of the right page, not quite at the bottom of the right page though and she named the page number
she saw it on.
About 2:30 p.m. the paper lady delivered that day's newspaper, I went out and brought it in, we opened it to the
page she has said it was on in the other paper. Sure enough, there it was, just EXACTLY how she had read it to me
over the phone the day before!!!!
THE COOL FACE OF THE MOON
One afternoon I was listening to some music that really caught my attention, I'm not sure why, but I decided to
just lay down on the cool floor, close my eyes for a bit and just relax. For some reason the music seem to fade and
all of a sudden what looked to be the moon was literally in my face, big and bright!! I jumped to my feet with a
jolt, WOW!! What an experience, I wasn't too sure if I liked that or not, totally unexpected!!
That night when we went to bed, I began to feel as if I was floating, pretty soon I began to see stars all
around me, then the moon, I kept concentrating on the moon, I wanted to get closer, why, I don't really know. In
what seemed like almost a heart beat I felt as if I was really floating closer to the moon, the closer I got the
more excited I became.
Finally I was so close that it was HUGE, the bright light reflected off of it and was whiter than snow, but not
blinding, I put my hand out to touch it and from some where a voice or a thought that did not feel like my own
warned me to not touch. So I just held my hand out to it and could feel the cold, not just coolness, but freezing
cold. It was not like the same kind of cold the snow, ice cubes or cold the freezer gives off. The appearance of
the dust on the surface that reflected the light was soft even though I could not feel or touch it, I really don't
know how to explain it, but it was WONDERFUL, I could look down and see the earth, when I looked around I could see
distant galaxies. Now THAT was a GREAT experience!!
BEN
I had gotten Ben from the human shelter as a puppy, he was a mix of Norwegian elkhound and wolf, I couldn't have
had a better friend, he was so gentle, loving and sweet. I learned about heartworms the hard way, never heard of
them until that fatal day when he walked on. Ben asked to go out side mid-afternoon, after an hour or so I felt
uneasy and went to check on him, he was not lying by the kitchen door as usual.
I called to my hubby and told him that Ben wasn't by the door, he said awe honey, he's OK. I replied with, NO HE
IS NOT!! This isn't like him!! I accused my hubby of not wanting to go out with me to look for him since it was
chilly and windy. We went out looking for him and calling for him, after quite some time we finally found Ben. He
went off into the other side of the tree stand at the north side of the house; there he lay on the ground. I ran to
him and dropped to my knees, he was barely breathing, I put my ear down on his chest; I didn't like the gurgling
sounds I was hearing. I hollered to my hubby to go call the vet and crawled around to hold his head, to love and
comfort him the best I could. Ben's chest was swelled up quickly, then this rolling motion began and went down into
his side, the sight was awful, his body rolled and heaved, I heard that all too familiar sound of air leaving his
lungs, then there was no life, my baby was only 5 years old.
When my hubby returned he found me with my face buried in Ben's thick fall fur he was building for winter, OH
how he LOOOOVED the snow!! Ben was gone, my hubby helped me to my feet and while walking me back to the house I
felt something brush firmly against my leg that made me stumble. When I looked I swear I saw him running off into a
very green pasture like area and I could hear a sound as if some one was whistling for a dog to come, the sun shown
brightly and then it was gone.
NIGHT SHADOW IN THE WINDOW
(Age - 29)
It had cooled down to 80 one summer night so I decided that I would get all the makings for potato salad ready
for the next day and put it all back into the frig. That way I wouldn't have to turn on the hot stove in 95 degree
heat, I could mix the potato salad in the morning and let it sit in the frig. until we were ready to eat it.
As I stood chopping up the potatoes, something in the open kitchen window got my attention. When I looked up I
saw behind me a reflection of a man standing in the down stairs door way. I just held real still thinking that this
didn't make senesce a window at night, it's dark out and I am seeing a black reflection that is behind me!!
I just stared at the window to make sure that what I was seeing was the doorframe of the stairway. As the dark
shadowy figure walked to the left towards the pantry I could only see him from his head down to his waist, he
appeared to have nothing from the waist down!! Why couldn't I see the rest of him?? I watched in awe as he
literally walked into the pantry through the closed door. For some unknown reason I turned, followed him and
realized what I had just done!! Talk about feeling foolish, I looked around to see if my hubby saw me, then thought
of course not he is in the basement working!! Then I was unsure of myself and decided to take my hubby a cup of
coffee just to make SURE he really was in the basement. Sure enough, he was, so who or what did I see and why did I
turn and follow??
FROM OUT OF THE GROUND
(Age - 31)
Late one afternoon my hubby, our off spring and I were in the garage re-stacking the wood pile, getting ready
for a new stack for winter. It was nice out, not a breath of wind but sunny and bright even though their were
possible tornado warnings out. Every now and then I kept poking my head out the big garage door to look at the sky
to make sure clouds hadn't come boiling up by surprise in a cloudless sky and to keep check on the color of the
air.
Once again I stepped into the garage door way and looked up at the sky, then up at the trees and FROZE like a
statue on the spot!! Here is what I saw. A hand that was pulling some one or some thing literally up out of the
ground among the trees. The hand held this soul? by it's hair, I could literally see hair over the hand. The face
had a contorted look; as of if in misery, the nose was long and began to take on a hooked shape the higher up it
went. The body was long, I could tell where the waistline was, the higher up it went the longer and larger it
appeared. The feet looked normal until it rose well above the trees and then they began to curl up word as if he
was wearing jester shoes. What felt like a deep voice from with in my head said that this looks worse than what it
really is and not to be afraid! All of this was cloud like but not a cloud, clouds do not rise up vertically as far
as I know, smoke like isn't right either, their are no words to describe something that is not really of this
world!!
My attention was drawn to the right towards the Northeastern part of the sky; I saw what appeared to be a thorn
that is not really a throne as we think of one. A holy being or figure like, maybe - God was sitting down, this
throne or chair had a high back with something on each side. It appeared as if they were hand hewed beams on each
side of the high backed chair/ throne, on top of those were something pointed as if it could be something
decorative, I don't know.
There was some kind of pole to the right side that reminded me of a flagpole or long staff. A holy person stood
on each side of this throne or seat. The whole thing was bright and light looking. Underneath the rim of this was
darkness, flashes of light as if it were lightening and many indescribable voices calling out in anxiety.
I'm not sure what was said to me if any thing or what else I may have seen without realizing it, but suddenly I
swore I had physically fallen to my knees!! The words, fall to your knees came to mind, it sure gave a new meaning
to that!! The thump was so hard that I literally felt it jar in my head like when stepping down off of a step to
hard and it feels as if ones head rattles. I quickly looked down to see if I really was standing which I was.
OK, so now I feel I am REALLY loosing it here, I'm seeing God, holy people, a soul being lifted up out of the
ground and people in what seems to be captivity?? I reached out with my right hand to try and grab onto my hubby to
see this it was so real. But he was just out of reach and I didn't want to draw our child's attention to this and I
still felt numb all over, inside and out, my voice had just left me, their was no way I could utter a sound.
Finally I looked back to where I saw the being or soul being lifted up and it was gone, then I looked back over to
the right and that was gone. Everything had just vanished. Where did it go, was it still there and I just couldn't
see it any more, what was that all about?? Am I going crazy and imagining things for some reason?? Yet it was all
sooooo REAL!!
E.E.G.
(Age - 33)
I needed to go into the hospital to have an electro encephalogram done, other wise called an E.E.G. The short
little needles were poked into my scalp and then I was told to lay my head back and relax!! How does one relax with
a head full of needles?!!
Finally around 5 p.m. I was taken back to my hospital room, it didn't take me long to fall fast asleep to escape
from the pain. My head felt as if there should have been blood running down it, that wasn't the most pleasant thing
to have done.
Some time later mom and I were talking about the severe heart attack dad had. Dad had taken the tractor
literally on the back 40 to do some winter work on the stream. He was on the tractor when he had the heart attack,
the doctor said the only thing that saved him was the fact his knees held him on the seat and his head hug
down.
I asked mom why on earth didn't my hubby or even me, grab a pair of dad's big old boots and go tromping through
the snow to see if he was OK or not when he came to pick our child up? Mom let out a slight chuckle and asked me if
I remembered what each one of us was wearing? I said well yeah I do and began to tell her as I was wondering what
that had to do with it. After I told her, then she asked me what I was wearing? ME? I don't know, don't remember,
but why don't I remember? And then it dawned on me; I had said to pick up our child!! Why would I say that if I was
there? Then she stated that it was simply because I wasn't even there, I was in the hospital to have the E.E.G.
done!! Dad had the heart attack around 5 p.m., he said that he heard a voice call to him that brought him around!!
Was this an out of body experience?
