The Hard Problem
by Barry Carter
Your questions imply a belief about reality that is being questioned by many scientists. I think that the
answers to these questions are also bringing us to the heart of the nature of the ORMUS materials. Among the main
scientific questions that are being asked are "do our thoughts influence reality" and if so, "how might this
work"?
The first question is often called the "hard problem" by modern physicists. One theory which might give us an idea
about how mind influences reality is called the "many-worlds theory".
While most modern physicists probably believe that mind influences matter they are reluctant to profess this belief
because the "how" has not been proven. One thing that might help in this proof is evidence that there are
substances which have an ability to "superconduct" thought. In other words, if there are substances which can
demonstrate instantaneous communication everywhere at once these substances would support the concepts of
omniscience and omnipresence.

the folks at Gravity Control Technologies wrote:
GCT Communications research concentrates on utilizing the information transfer properties of the Zero
Point Field as a means and medium of communication.
During the development phase of the propulsion system it was observed that two separate plasma
powered prototypes exhibited identical and simultaneous plasma field discrepancies when operated
simultaneously. These simultaneous resonance couplings persisted regardless of the shielding used to separate
the two devices, including Faraday cages.
We believe that it might be possible to build custom plasma field units that are capable of
transmitting and receiving messages by resonance-tuning them through the ZPF. In our view, the exchange of
information between the devices is accomplished through the medium of the Zero Point Field, and is not
dependent in any way on the exchange of conventional electromagnetic energy.
Real time exchange of information over extreme distances can be accomplished. For example,
communication with a spacecraft orbiting Mars can be an interactive experience, with no speed-of-light time lag
between transmission and reception.
This instantaneous communication, which is linked to the "monatomic" elements on other pages on this web
site, would give us an answer about how our thoughts might influence matter.
But we still need to answer the second question, "how can everyone create their own reality without disrupting the
reality of others?"
In 1974 I purchased and read the just published book "The Nature of Personal Reality - A Seth Book" by Jane
Roberts. Here is a significant quote from this book about how "probable realities" might give us a solution to the
second question:
Since your conscious beliefs determine those unconscious functions that bring about your personal
experience, your first step is to enlarge those beliefs.
The concepts given in this book should have already helped you do that to some extent. Within your
own subjective reality are traces of all those roads not taken, those abilities not used. You may think of
yourself as primarily a parent, or mainly in terms of your job or profession. As much as possible, for now,
forget the normal familiar light in which you see yourself, and consider your identity.
Write down or enumerate all of your known physical and mental abilities, whether they have been
developed or not, and all of those inclinations toward particular activities-even those only remotely
considered-as well as those that have come at all vividly to mind.
These represent the varied probable characteristics from which you have chosen to activate your
particular main interest. Out of these attributes, therefore, you chose what you now consider to be your
hard-bed reality.
(10:59.) Any of those directions, followed, can enrich the existence that you know, and in turn open
up other probabilities that now escape you. The main image of yourself that you have held has, to a large
extent, also closed your mind to these other probable interests and identifications. If you think in terms of a
multidimensional self, then you will realize that you have many more avenues open to expression and fulfillment
than you have been using. These probable achievements will lie latent unless you consciously decide to bring
them into being.
Whatever talents you sense you have can be developed only if you determine to do so. The simple act
of decision will then activate the unconscious mechanisms. You, as a personality, regardless of your health,
wealth or circumstances, have a rich variety of probable experience from which to choose. Consciously you must
realize this and seize the direction for your own life. Even if you say, "I will go along with all life
offers," you are making a conscious decision. If you say, "I am powerless to direct my life," you are also
making a deliberate choice-and in that case a limiting one.
(Pause.) The path of experience is nowhere settled. There is no one road that does not have avenues
to another. There are deep veins of probable actions ever available to you at any given time. Your imagination
can be of great value, allowing you to open yourself to such courses; you can then use it to help you bring
these into being.
If you are poor, you chose that reality from many probable ones that did not involve poverty-and that
are still open. If you chose illness, again there is a probable reality ready for initiation in which you
choose health. If you are lonely there are probable friends you refused to meet in the past, but who are
readily available.
(11:14.) In your mind, therefore, see those probable abilities or events taking place. As you do, the
intensity of your desire brings them into your experience. There are no boundaries, again, set about the self.
There are literally many other probable you's. You can draw upon their abilities, as in their own way they call
upon your own, for you are all intimately connected.
You must realize that you are indeed a probable you. Your experience is the result of beliefs. Your
neuronal structure necessitates a certain focus so that other experiences counter to your conscious assumptions
remain probable or latent. Alter the beliefs and any probable self can, within certain limitations, be
actualized.
Now-that is the end of dictation, and the end for the evening. (Louder, smiling:) My heartiest good
wishes to you both, and a fond good evening.
("Good night, Seth. Thank you very much."
(The abrupt end of the session came then at 11:22 P.M.)
SESSION 656, APRIL 16, 1973,
9:14 P.M. MONDAY
Good evening.
("Good evening, Seth."
(With a smile:) Probable dictation: What you must under-stand is this: Each of the events in each of
your lives was "once" probable. From a given field of action, then, you choose those happenings that will be
physically materialized.
This operates in individual and mass terms. Suppose that today your home was robbed. Yesterday, the
theft was one of innumerable probable events. I chose such an example because more than one person would have
to be involved-the victim and the robber. (Pause.) Why was your home ransacked, and not your neighbor's? In one
way or another, through your conscious thought you attracted such an event, and drew it
from probability into actuality. The occurrence would be an accumulation of energy-turned into
action-and be brought about by corollary beliefs.
You may be convinced that human nature is evil, or that no one is safe from another's aggression, or
that people are motivated mainly by greed. Such beliefs attract their own reality. If you have anything worth
losing, you are then automatically convinced that someone else will take it from you, or try their hardest to
do so. In your own way you send out messages to just such a person. On basic levels your convictions will be
quite similar, but one will see himself as the victim and one as the aggressor-that is, each of you will react
differently to the same set of beliefs. However the two of you are necessary if a crime of that nature is, or
is to be, committed.
(9:25.) The beliefs of both of you find justification in physical life, and only reinforce
themselves. The fear of robbers attracts robbers. If you think that men are evil, however, you are often not
able to examine that as a belief, but take it as a condition of reality.
All of your present experience was drawn from probable reality. During your life, any event must come
through your creaturehood, with the built-in time recognition that is so largely a part of your neurological
structure; so usually there is a lag, a lapse in time, during which your beliefs cause material actualization.
When you try to change your convictions in order to change your experience, you also have to first stop the
momentum that you have already built up, so to speak. You are changing the messages while the body is used to
reacting smoothly, unquestioningly, to a certain set of beliefs.
There is a steady even flow in which conscious activity through the neurological structure brings
about events, and a familiar pattern of reaction is established. When you alter these conscious beliefs through
effort, then a period of time is necessary while the structure learns to adjust to the new preferred situation.
If beliefs are changed overnight, comparatively less time is required.
In a manner of speaking, each belief can be seen as a powerful station, pulling to it from fields of
probabilities only those signals to which it is attuned, and blocking out all others. When you set up a new
station there may be some static or bleed-through from an old one for a while.
Any ability you have, then, can be "brought in more clearly," amplified, and become practical rather
than probable. But in such a case you must concentrate upon the attribute-not, for example, upon the fact that
you have not used it well thus far.
In 1977 I purchased and read the next Seth book titled "The "Unknown" Reality: A Seth Book - Volume 1" by Jane
Roberts. This was followed by "The "Unknown" Reality: A Seth Book - Volume 2" in 1979. These books greatly expanded
upon the concept of "probable realities" from "The Nature of Personal Reality" and previous Seth books. Though I
did not know it at the time, the concept of "probable realities" was quite similar to a theory that was first
expounded by Dr. Hugh Everett III in his 1956 doctoral thesis titled "The Theory of the Universal
Wavefunction".
Though it is controversial, Dr. Everett's many worlds theory was supported by 58% of the respondents in a poll of
72 of the "leading cosmologists and other quantum field theorists" according to a many worlds theory FAQ at:
http://reluctant-messenger.com/many_worlds.htm
I learned about the "many-worlds" theory in about 1981 while reading the 1975 book "Space-Time and Beyond" by Bob
Toben and Dr. Fred Allen Wolf. Dr. Wolf wrote the text for this book and Bob Toben drew the illustrations. Here are
some quotes on this topic from "Space-Time and Beyond":
"We influence our futures (and pasts) directly with thought."
"Every thought, every dream is an awareness of another reality which coexists."
"Individual awareness can be guided to the most harmonious of futures as all futures and pasts exist
concurrently."
Dr. Wolf was featured in the movies "The Secret" and "What the Bleep"
Dr. Fred Allen Wolf was not aware of the Seth material when he wrote "Space-Time and Beyond" but he became aware of
it rather quickly after it was published. Here are some of his comments on this from the forward he wrote for
"Bridging Science and Spirit" by Norman Friedman:
Remarkably, I first became acquainted with Seth's teachings shortly after a period of study and
research at the University of London's Birkbeck College where, as fortune would have it, I occupied an office
next to Professor Bohm. Bohm would often tell me about his latest insights into the implicate order, an
invisible, pervasive "isness" from which all matter, energy, and meaning ultimately emerge. At the end of these
discourses I felt as bewildered as the woman who met Einstein on a ship sailing from Europe to the U.S. and
remarked after Einstein had explained his theory of relativity to her, "I am convinced that he understands it
very well." Bohm went well above my intellectual head, but left me with an intriguing new sense of underlying
mystery.
Seth came to my attention later. After Jack Sarfatti, Bob Toben, and I published our popular book
Space-Time and Beyond, a reader told us that we had explained, in the terminology of modern physics, the very
same things that Seth talked about. We had not intended to go into the subject in any real depth; we simply
wanted to sketch the relationship between science and spirit in a very light way. Mr. Friedman has developed
those sketches, has looked deeply into these comparisons, and has written with skill and insight. Although we
had certainly placed our feet on the bridge in our attempt to "explain the unexplainable," it was left to
Norman Friedman to cross over.
The essential element in all of this, I would say, is that all view-points of understanding our
experience of the Universe rest on the simultaneous existence of a deeper level of reality out of which the
duality of the physical and mental aspects emerge.
Dr. Wolf did not fully expound upon the simultaneous nature of the "download" of the information in "Space-Time and
Beyond" and the Seth books. Many scientists have commented on this phenomenon where a new discovery in science
often happens simultaneously for several scientists. Our ORMUS history also has similar stories of independent
simultaneous discovery.
I wrote an article back in 1998 where I discussed the implications of the "Many Worlds" theory and the "Hard
Problem" as they relate to ORMUS. You can read this article at:
http://www.OrmusMinerals.com/consciou.htm
I think that both of these debates relate to ORMUS in that the quickened manifestation of thoughts that some ORMUS
researchers have reported and the role of intention in traditional alchemy will play a significant role in
validating some of the controversial theories being postulated by leading edge quantum physicists.
It seems that ORMUS research is gradually moving toward making the interactions of our thoughts with quantum
indeterminacy a phenomenon that can be measured at the macro scale of chemical reactions.
There is already a great deal of research going on which is examining the effects of thought on the outcome of
chemistry and physics experiments. Lynne McTaggart described some of these experiments in her book titled "The
Field" which I reviewed at:
http://www.OrmusMinerals.com/review.htm
In her latest book "The Intention Experiment" she describes the results of dozens of research projects world wide
that have been exploring the effect of conscious intention on the outcome of chemistry and physics experiments.
If one assumes that the intent of a person will manifest, ala The Secret,
events in the real world that matches this intent, are we to believe that
the Jews, the Africans, the Chinese of Nandging, and all other groups of
people that have been slaughtered in history or put in slavery intented this
upon themselves, that in essence, they had it coming? When people die in
accidents, is it their fault?
I don't believe it is a fault. I believe it is a choice. Either they are helpless victims of circumstances beyond
their control or they have called these situations forth by setting up thoughts that resonate with them. This is
what is called the "law of attraction" by Abraham-Hicks. I believe that we are so free to choose our own reality
that we can even choose a reality that we consider to be yucky.
If the universe is really infinite (including infinite probable realities) then everything you have ever heard is
true. If this is the case, the truth of something has no relevance to whether or not you will manifest it in your
life. The only relevance comes from your belief in your power to influence reality or your belief in your
powerlessness. If you believe in powerlessness you will always manifest evidence of that powerlessness.
I think that ORMUS speeds the manifestation of our thoughts. It shortens the lag time between our thoughts about
what we want or don't want and the manifestation of what we want or don't want. You can read a story about an
extreme example of this shortened lag time with ORMUS at:
http://www.OrmusMinerals.com/realthing.htm
I wrote more about this four years ago in a post to the WhiteGold forum:
There has been a bit of discussion on this list lately which seems to refer to the "white powder of gold" as a sort
of "enlightenment pill". An "enlightenment pill" would be some substance that would cause any person who takes it
to instantly transcend, ascend, awaken or see God.
Belief in the concept of an enlightenment pill seems to be rooted in the deeper belief that enlightenment can come
from outside of the self. This belief is almost the same as the belief that someone else is responsible for the
mess that "I" am in right now.
Let's imagine that the ORMUS elements can improve the connection to spirit. Now, let's pretend that each of us is
actually responsible for everything which has ever happened to us. Imagine that you are responsible for the
manifestation of what you want and responsible for the manifestation of what you don't want, in your life.
If the ORMUS elements are a connecting medium between "spirit and mind/matter" then they might work sort of like
the air which connects us with the resonance of sound. I can speak and, if the air is thick enough to sustain life,
you can hear what I say. If the air is thicker, like at sea level, the sound of my voice will travel faster and
clearer than if the air is thinner, like on a mountain top. This is the reason that you can hear a train coming, by
putting your ear to the iron rail, long before you can hear the train through the air. The denser the substance the
faster sound will travel through it. ORMUS would be a very dense medium for carrying our thoughts and feelings.
Now imagine that you are standing on a ledge in the Grand Canyon. You shout out a word and a few seconds later the
echo comes back to you. It startles you because it seems like someone else is standing next to you and has shouted
back the same thing that you shouted. Perhaps you shouted out "I love you" or perhaps you shouted out "I hate
you".
The Grand Canyon is so big that the echo is delayed a long time. This makes it seem that the echo you hear is
coming from someone else. If you hear the words "I love you" you feel really good about yourself but if you hear
the words "I hate you" you might become frightened because you think that someone wishes to harm you.
If the ORMUS elements are a medium of communication between mind and spirit they would bring us back the echo of
whatever we are thinking about ourselves.
Suppose you had two bells outside your front door. One of these bells sounds wonderful and the other sounds
horrible. The wonderful sounding bell attracts laughing, happy children to your front door and the horrible
sounding bell attracts violent, vicious criminals to your door.
Now suppose that the wonderful bell rings whenever you think about what you want and the horrible bell rings
whenever you think about what you don't want. What would happen if the air, which carries the sound of the bell,
suddenly became thicker. What if it became infinitely thick so that every thought would instantly manifest those
things that were in resonant harmony with it.
I think that this is what happens with ORMUS, especially the "good stuff". I think it carries the resonance of our
thoughts and beliefs and brings back the echo of their manifestation very quickly. If this is true then here is a
way to tell if you are ready for the "good stuff".
First, examine your life--do things you don't like ever happen to you? Would you be happier if these things were
intensified and more instantly connected to the thoughts that called them in? Conversely, notice how regularly the
things you do like happen to you. When you wake up in the morning do you contemplate
your day with delicious anticipation or do you dread going to work? Which bell do you ring as you go out your front
door?
Your beliefs are habits, which ORMUS will not change. When you take ORMUS it does not steal your free choice. It
does not make you think only of what you want and prevent you from thinking of what you don't want. You still can
choose which bell you are going to ring with each thought. Are you sure you always think of your angels and never
think of your demons--for whichever you think of you will manifest in your life and this manifestation will only be
hastened and heightened by the ingestion of the "good stuff".
You can read more of my thoughts on this at:
http://www.OrmusMinerals.com/innernet.htm
Also, here is a quote, which came to me yesterday from the AbeQuotes list, that seems germane to this subject:
Question: What causes my fear?
Abraham: Fear is the feeling sensation that is present within you when you have both a desire and a
belief that contradicts it. Fear is a response to the state of your vibration. You are a vibrational being, and
every moment offering a signal. Your vibration could be called thought, it could be called memory, it could be
called fantasy, it could be called imagination, it could be called Energy. In other words, your vibration could
be called, "As I stand in my now, and I think about the present, or I think about the future, or I think about
the past -- all of that is thought. Whatever it is I'm perceiving is causing me to offer a vibration, and that
vibration is being answered or matched by All-That-Is.
So when I feel fear, what it always means is, I am offering a thought that you might call desire and
a thought that you might call belief that are contradictory. The presence of fear always means the presence of
resistance. The presence of resistance always means not allowing the Energy of desire to flow through
me--always, without exception. Same with confusion; same with vulnerability; same with anger; same with
unworthiness; same with guilt. All negative emotions mean the same thing. You just call them different things
because they play out differently in your experience -- but they all mean the same thing.
The vibration of fear is usually a very strong vibration, which usually means there is the presence
of a very strong desire within you. Often, when you feel fear, it is because you have a belief that contradicts
basic elements that are natural to you. Your natural instinct, from your broadest Nonphysical perspective, is
to know your power. Fear is a vibration when you feel powerless. Your natural instinctual Nonphysical vibration
is to know your worthiness, know your rightness, know your value. And the feeling of fear is always when you
are contradicting that thought.
We would want you to say, "Quite a bit of the time I feel fearful or vulnerable or limited, and what
that feeling means is: I'm in that moment holding a desire that contradicts my past thought, or my beliefs..."
Remember that a belief is just a thought you keep thinking, it's just a habit of thought. It's just sort of the
way you've always thought it, and so it is the way you are now thinking it.
And so, as you are feeling fear, all it means is, "I've got a desire that my belief is not agreeing
with. Now, what thought feels better about this? I've got hold of this stick, where my desire is here, my
belief is here. What thought feels better?" And as you just softly talk to yourself about that subject,
reaching for the thought that feels better, what happens is you shift the Energy.
You see, this is the other secret. While positive thinking, or intent as you
call it, is a good spiritual tool to keep up the spirit and focus on good
things, it is not a reflection of an underlying cosmic phenomena where our
will will manifest itself. This is day dreaming. The success of the secret
is mainly based on the psychological phenomena I described to you here. Ask
any psychiatrist or psychologist.
Let's ask Dr. Wayne Dyer. Dr. Dyer holds a doctorate in educational counseling from Wayne State University and was
an associate professor at St. John’s University in New York. Here is today's quote from Dr. Dyer's web site:
By banishing doubt and thinking in no-limit ways, you clear a space for the power of intention to flow through. The
power of intention is so doubt-deficient, that when you’re connected to it you see what you'd like to have as
already being present.
Many psychologists and physicists believe that we create our own reality through our beliefs, feelings and
intentions. Here is a short list:
Chris Johnson

Peter Wilberg and Karin Heinitz
Dr. Amit Goswami
You can also read an article on the various physicists who describe the universe as consciousness at:

That being said, intent or wishful thinking is still a great tool in my
arsenal of psychological tools for happiness, but I won't try to bank it as
science... ;-)
Here is what Fred Alan Wolf had to say about "wishful thinking" in "The Secret":
