Cervical Disc Replacement

Neuropaedic Surgery
Neuropaedic surgery: is the patented surgical technique of intervertebral spinal disc replacement using a
Preformed Polymethyl Methacrylate disc. This is a spine lengthening operation wherein all diseased discs in the
neck are replaced to restore function to the nerves in the arms, alleviate shoulder problems and restore
circulation to the spinal cord, brain stem and hindbrain. It is effective in treatment of chronic cervicogenic
headaches and basilar migraine. The majority of chronic headache is now considered to be caused by pathology in the
neck and this technology has been proven effective. There are up to 60 million patients with headache in the United
States alone.
Cervical disc degeneration: causes shortening of the axial skeleton during the aging process with secondary
sequella such as painful arc syndrome in the shoulder due to muscle imbalance and this new technique corrects
compression to cervical nerve roots exiting to supply shoulder muscles and corrects the chronic shoulder pains as
well as numbness, tingling and weakness in the arms and hands.
Expanded Indications: Restoration of segmental length after discectomy also restores length to the adjacent
vertebral arteries and arterial pressure into the hindbrain by removing kinks in the vessels associated with neck
shortening. This is already known to be effective in treating dizziness, blurred vision, tinnitus and headaches. It
is expected this new technology will become the treatment of choice in treating neurodegenerative disorders and
halting progression of strokes Alzheimers, Parkinson's, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Multiple Sclerosis, and a
multitude of other diseases which are presently considered incurable. This technique will replace traditional
methods of dealing with disc disease first in the neck, then in the low back.
Clinical testing: has been completed using 521 disc replacements of from one to four cervical disc
replacements per patient implanted in 300 patients since 1979.
Endorsement: The new technology is endorsed by the American Academy of Neurological and Orthopaedic Surgeons
(AANAOS) who appointed me Chief of the new Division of Neuropaedic Surgery. It is also endorsed by the
International College of Surgeons. I was appointed by American Federation of Medical Accreditation to set the
standards for disc replacement; AFMA has 60,000 members. The Canadian Neuropaedic Foundation has been accepted by
Revenue Canada and granted tax status as a Charitable Organization empowered to give tax deductible receipts to
supporters.
