Grandmother Carrot Recipe

First buy about 4 real carrots, not the little skinny one you get in plastic bags, and if you don't already have some, buy some granulated sugar.  You will need about 2 cups of granulated sugar.  You will also need a large glass bowl.  DO not use plastic or metal.

Prepare this at sunset & it will be ready at sunrise.

Rinse your 4 carrots well but do not remove the skin.  Cut them in thin slices.  If you have a slicer it is time to use it!!!  Place your sliced carrots in the bowl:

Now cover your carrots with granulated sugar and shake 3 or 4 times for the sugar to mix well between the sliced carrots and cover again the whole with sugar a second time.

Now cover the bowl with a clean towel and put it in a place at room temperature, not in the fridge.  If the place is a little warm it is even better.  Body temperature is really what you looking for and here in Arizona that is no problem even with the air conditioning!!!!

Towel

And voila you are done.  Wait until the morning about 12 hours later and check the result.  And please show a little maturity, do not go peek every five minutes, just be patient. I will post a picture of the result tomorrow and you will all be very surprised.

If you have a scale, please measure the weight of the bowl with the carrots and the sugar before covering it with the towel.  12 hours later remove the cover and you will find an incredible amount of syrup.  Also measure now the weight of the bowl with the carrots and syrup.  You should actually have a noticeable if not significant increase in weight.

The syrup is thick and is absolutely delicious if you like sweets, and has a totally different taste then if you were to use a juicer.  4 big carrots should give you about a full tall glass of syrup.  The syrup is a little too thick to drink as is, but diluted in water it is really good.

This recipe was given to kids that were a little weak or sick to give them strength, and boy, talk about the energizer bunny!!!!!!!!!

I tried with granulated sugar cane and the result is the same if not for the taste that is almost like caramel.  I also tried replacing sugar with salt or backing soda, and absolutely NO syrup came out.  Really what fascinates me the most is the difference in weight before and after and also that after even though it seems that all the water has been taken out of the carrots, well the carrots are not dehydrated at all and are still good to eat like candy.  I would have expected a loss of weight due to evaporation or something of the kind but not an increase.  I do not know if this could be considered somehow somewhere a natural alchemical process!!!  I do not have the technology or the know-how, but I would love to find out if some ORMUS is not hiding in the syrup.  So if anyone finds out please let us know your results.  I know that some of you have researched the relationship of ORMUS with sugar & this may be of some use for you then.

Enjoy.
